External partnerships
We work with several external partners regionally, nationally and internationally. This page lists some of our current external collaborations and memberships, along with links to these external partners' web presences.
UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association
We have supported the UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association since its inception, presenting at Annual Meetings and contributing to governance activities. Our Digital Development Manager, Dr Cassie Ulph, was a member of the Governance Working Group. We are now involved in the Association's transition to an independent group.
DARIAH-EU (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities)
DARIAH-EU is a European Union-funded research infrastructure for digital arts and humanities projects. It maintains DARIAH Campus, a collection of Open Access tutorials for digital humanities research and teaching. We are an associate member of DARIAH-EU, and hosted the UK's first DARIAH Day in September 2024, along with attending and presenting at DARIAH-sponsored conferences and events elsewhere.
N8 Computationally Intensive Research Centre of Excellence - Digital Humanities Theme
We work closely with N8 partner institutions in the Computationally Intensive Research Centre of Excellence. N8 are a grouping of eight research intensive universities in the north of England, sharing a focus on digital humanities research. Collaborations with N8 CIR have included workshops on multi-spectral imaging, 3D printing and support for Research Software Engineers in digital humanities. We are represented on the N8 CIR by Dr Mel Evans.
Hamburg partnership
We supported a series of lectures and discussions with the Digital Humanities Institute at the University of Hamburg. The Hamburg-Leeds Lecture Series 2025 "Affect, Archive & Artificial Intelligence" was jointly organised by Prof Julia Nantke (Hamburg) and Dr Dibyadyuti Roy (Leeds). The lecture series is part of a larger collaboration planned between Hamburg and Leeds in the field of Digital Humanities.
International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF)
Through our support for the activities of the Digital Library Infrastructure Project (DLIP), we work closely with the IIIF Consortium to support researchers in using IIIF in their practice. We supported sessions at the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) Conference in Leeds in 2025, including a collaborative workshop for educators and research communication with the Library and Digital Education Enhancement.
