**Update: Please note amended date for "Ways of Linking Data" workshop***

The Digital Horizons in English Seminar series kicks off with two events this autumn focussed on digital humanities research methodologies.

The first seminar of the series will take place on 8th November 2023, 12-1.30pm (online), at which Professor Ruth Ahnert (QMUL) will give a talk on ‘Network Analysis and Early Modern Communication’. Professor Ahnert will speak about her experience of applying methods from the networks scene to the study of early modern letter collections. She will share findings from three different projects to illustrate the affordances of such work, as well as the challenges with working data of different scales. The talk is open to all staff and students interested in networks analysis for humanities research. To attend, use https://universityofleeds.zoom.us/j/84119082289

The second event on 13 December, 3-4.30pm will be an in-person practical session from Dr Emily Bell (School of English) on ‘Ways of Linking Data’. In this hands-on session, Emily will show participants how to create linked datasets and networks using RDF triples and WikiData e.g. for bibliographic information, networks of people, and texts. No prior knowledge is required! The aim of the session is to introduce some of the practicalities of creating networks, including the intellectual considerations. The session is open to staff and postgraduate students interested in creating linked datasets. To register for this event, please sign up here (places are limited).
