Where is Leeds and what is Leeds? This introduction to mapping session explores these questions through the lenses of digital mapping approaches and techniques to provide participants with a toolkit to carry out their own spatial investigations. During the session we will explore crazy coordinate conundrums, the wacky world of geocoding services, and a selection of digital mapping tools. The session will culminate with participants designing and taking the first steps towards their own digital mapping project.

The session will be run by Daniel Belteki. Daniel is a Digital Research Applications Fellow at the Science Museum. His work explores how to transform historical collections into datasets suitable for digital research tools. His current interest includes the spatial analysis of historical collections data.

The session will run from 14.00 - 16.00 with a chance to stay until 16.45 to ask questions about your own research.  This is an IN-PERSON event.

Open to staff and AHC PGR students. The session is almost full but we expect there will be places so please register your interest here and we will be in touch regarding a place.

A UoL email address is required to register.
