What: This DCCH workshop will introduce a tool for annotating, analysing and visualising connections within large visual datasets using a tool called IMMARKUS, which works in combination with the International Image Interoperability Framework, a data and imaging standard widely adopted in Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Academia (GLAMA). IMMARKUS allows you to compile datasets of IIIF-compliant images from across different institutions in one workspace, annotate visual features, create a data model, analyse and visualise your results, in a browser-based application.

The first part of the workshop will introduce the tool’s main features and potential applications via practical examples. In the second part, participants will be able to experiment with the preliminary functions of the tool such as setting up a project folder, creating a dataset, using the manual and AI-assisted annotation tools, and populating a data model. Time for questions and discussion will be built in throughout the workshop and at the end, and the session will close with signposting to further support.
